Server Rules (English)

by Clan [uBp] DM's and Enforcers

1. CLAN [uBp] RULES: Respect, Integrity, Maturity, Honor, Language.
There is a post in the NwN division Commons that has a full description of each of these rules. Break these rules and you will most likely be dismissed from the clan and probably banned from the game servers.

2. PLAYER ABUSE:
You may not harass or abuse other players. This is one of the rules you are told when you enter the mod. Harassment can cover many areas of activity, but basically, if you are engaging in an action, which is consistently affecting another player's ability to enjoy the game, you are harassing them. If a player tells you to stop doing something and you don't, you are harassing them. We don't care if you are going up to a new player and giving him 1000 gold every 5 minutes. If the other player asks you, then tells you to stop and you don't, it's harassment

3. SWEARING:
All Clan [uBp] Servers are family oriented servers, therefore swearing is not allowed. If you swear on shout you will most likely be banned, it is not tolerated. If you swear anywhere else you will be warned, repeat offenders will be dealt with accordingly.

4. AREA LEVEL RANGES:
Following are a list of areas in the module and what level of player they were designed for. Players killing and looting in areas below their character's level may be killed, put in jail, sent to hell, or banned, depending on the circumstances, history of offense and judgment of the DM witnessing the act. If you must go into an area below your character's level to get a plot item (i.e. Mutant Beetle Belly, Rope, etc) do so quickly, and do not loot the area. Also these restrictions are a guideline our DM's use. So a level 6 partying with three level 4's in the Beetle Caves may go unchallenged by our DM's, while a level 6 all by himself in the caves might not. Please realize our DM's are interested in what's best for the module as a whole. A level 6 helping out some level 4's is more acceptable than a solo level 6 looting the area and preventing any level 4's from benefiting from it. More areas will be added to this list as we define them, but this should give a good overall feel for what is expected.

NOTE: 'NR' means no level restrictions.

  • Ancient Crypt [2 - 6]
  • Anduin Ruins [10 - 15]
  • Bandit Camp [2- 6]
  • Beetle Caves [2 - 5]
  • BugBear Caves [5-12]
  • Catacombs [NR]
  • Dread Caverns [5 - 12]
  • Golem Sanctuary [5 - 12]
  • Halls of the Dead [NR]
  • Halls of Horror [NR]
  • Hobgoblin Mines [3 - 7]
  • Krensher's Lair [3 - 7]
  • Elementals/Lava King's Lair [10 -15]
  • Nether Caves [2 - 7]
  • Swamp of Decay [5 - 12]
  • Tainted Desert [NR]
  • Tainted Hills [NR]
  • Umber Maze [10 - 15]
  • Underdark (any locations) [NR]

5. EXPLOITS:
An exploit is a cheat or workaround. Players being caught exploiting in the game WILL be banned. No quarter will be given. Exploits are discovered all the time due to either system bugs or loopholes in the rule set of NwN's AD&D implementation. As such it is impossible to provide a comprehensive list of all exploits. Definition of exploit: An exploit is doing any action that gives you an advantage or gain in a way that bypasses the intent of the game.

6. SPAMMING SHOUT:
This is annoying to everyone on the server and considered very rude, usually you will get a tell asking you to stop spamming shout. If it continues then disciplinary action is called for.

7. PK-ing - (Player killing Player):
We do not run a PK server. We do not allow players to kill other players. If you choose to play an evil aligned character, please realize this does not give you a license to kill other players. It is NOT role-playing evil to go around killing people. That is role playing being a jerk. If you do find yourself a victim of a PK, and the killer does not offer any apologies and doesn't tries to raise you, you may request permission from a DM to hunt the player down and extract revenge. UNTIL you have received permission from a DM, you MAY NOT extract your revenge. If permission is granted (and there is no guarantee it will be (it is at the DM's discretion) you should role-play out your revenge to its conclusion. A DM must be on and present during the time you do this. You may not extract your revenge if a DM is not online, even if you have been given prior DM permission to hunt the other player down.
Should you accidentally kill another player (i.e. via an area spell [fireball, etc]) you should resurrect the player you killed as soon as you can, offer your apologies ask them to use the "Thingy of Forgiveness" on you and both parties should try to move on.
NOTE: The arena area in town is the exception to this rule. Players are allowed to kill other players while in the arena area, but even then, the fighting should be consensual from both players, and the winner should raise the person killed afterwards.

8. BATTLE LOOTING:
Battle looting means to pick up loot while a fight is going on. This is against our rules.

9. FARMING XP or LOOT:
Farming is continually working one area. Farming is considered an exploit because you are using an area in a way in which it was not intended, both for your own personal gain and to the detriment of someone else's game-play. It prevents any other parties from benefiting from that area while it's being farmed. Because of this, it is frowned upon by the DM's and if you are seen farming, you will be disciplined!

10. SPAWN WAITING or CAMPING:
Waiting for a boss monster to re-spawn after you have just killed it is also forbidden. Once you have killed a boss monster, you should exit the area and adventure somewhere new. How would you feel if you and your party just spent 60 minutes battling through the Underdark and a Drow house, only to arrive at the matrons room to find a party sitting there waiting for her to come back so they can get their third set of treasure from her? Our areas were designed to give a reward comparable to the difficulty of the encounters found in that area. This means starting at the beginning of the area and working your way through it as it was designed to be played. Working your way through an area once, and then waiting outside the room of a boss monster and killing her repeatedly defeats this intent. If you are caught doing this, you will be disciplined.

11. BEGGING:
People found begging for money or items in town will be considered vagrants and sent to jail. Repeat offenders will receive more severe punishments, including but not limited to death, dismemberment and/or banning.

12. VANDALISM:
Attacking or casting offensive spells at town property will result in a jail term. Repeat offenders will receive harsher punishments, including but not limited to death, dismemberment and/or banning.

13. REST SPAWNING:
Resting over and over to spawn monsters, this is an exploit and you will be punished for doing it.

14. PICK POCKETING (PP):
While allowed on this server it is frowned upon, if you are caught pick pocketing and you are killed do not blame the DMÍs or Enforcers and do not ask for retribution. Also if you are caught by a DM or Enforcer in the act of PPÍing you will be dealt with as a common thief (which is essentially what you are).

15. AFK (away from keyboard):
Sitting idle taking up space on the server is considered rude. If you log in and have to go do something, and it will take more then 5 minutes, log out and be considerate. If a DM or Enforcer notices a character in the same spot for more then 5-10 minutes (according to how full the server is) we will boot them.

16. DUNGEON MASTERS:
All Official Clan [uBp] servers are policed by Clan [uBp] Dungeon Masters and Enforcers. Our DM's and Enforcers must be clan members, must be voted into the position, and must pass a 30-day internship to be considered full DM's or Enforcers. Our DM's and Enforcers exist for two primary functions, which are:
1. To enforce our rules
2. To enhance your experience as players on our servers.
Our DM's will NOT give out free items, free gold, or free experience so please do not ask. Compensation for crashes, or systems bugs will be on a case by case basis (this does not open the floodgate to spam the DM's after a server crash). In the mythos of the Ascension world, DM's can be thought of as gods. Their actions are beyond mortal comprehension and they answer only to yet another higher power. It is foolish and dangerous to question any action they take.
That being said, this does not mean you can not ask a DM a question or try to talk to them. Just be sure to do it in a respectful manner. Also, understand they are under no obligation to answer you. If you need a DM to report a bug or exploit or problem on the mod, use the DM channel. Do not send a 'tell' to a DM until/unless he has spoken to you, or given you prior permission to do so, as this is considered rude. "Fishing' for a DM, that is, trying to determine if a DM is online, is a very suspicious activity and will most likely draw the attention of a DM towards yourself.
As gods, DM's can hear and see everything you do. Take this into consideration before saying something that may offend, tempt, or mock the gods. Once again, a DM's actions are beyond mortal comprehension and they answer only to yet another higher power. It is foolish and dangerous to question any action they take.

17. DISCIPLINE:
Disciplinary action will be taken if you break the rules. Some forms of discipline:
1. Sent to the DM office for a "talking to"
2. Sent to jail for a "cool off" period
3. Sent to hell
4. Banned from the servers (and in most cases the forums)
5. Have your characters deleted or invalidated (this is in the case of an inappropriate player name)
6. Legal action taken (in the extreme case a Hack attempt is made legal action will be taken)

The above list is generalities and is in no way limiting the DM's or Enforcers to just the above disciplinary actions. The discretion of the DM or Enforcer is always their prerogative.  Also, the actions listed are in no particular order, one may happen when others do not.
